Afield did a virtual “studio” visit yesterday—the first conducted by the Multiple Mobilities working group at The New School.
Co-directors of Afield—Kai Wood Mah and Patrick Lynn Rivers—reviewed several ongoing Afield projects during the conversation placing emphasis on interdisciplinary methods used for those projects and the nuts-and-bolts of cross-disciplinary collaboration. The Multiple Mobilities working group was particularly interested in “productive friction, uncertainties, glitches” as well as “gaps, absences, silences, misalignments.”
Afield plans to collaborate with Multiple Mobilities on a near-term project as well as a long-term project (funded). The near-term project will be featured in 2021 in the journal Borderlands. Stay tuned!
